used tractor warranty,..........(?)

I recently posted about my radiator woes, thus ending up to be a bad head gasket.

I was able to see the head gasket damage first hand today.

The reason I took time to go to the repair shop was that the mechanic noticed something funny,...............no laughing,..........about my clutch.

SO,..........he took off the access plate on the bottom of the clutch housing, and most of the ball bearing from the throwout bearing fell on the floor.

Long story short,................MANY other parts are severly damaged and broken inside this clutch housing, and indications of past porr mechanicin' are evident.

The bill,............will exceed $3,200.00.

What is the opinion of buying a tractor from a Dealer, who advertized the tractor as being in good condition?

I paid a competitive price for it.

Thanks!
Pete

Pete,

Are you saying the original place you purchased this tractor from...offered you a warranty? If so, how long was the warranty period and the subsequent damage discovered?

This could be a case where the dealer WAS aware, did a poor "Quickie" to get rid of the unit or, the dealer never knew and the person trading it in just repaired it good enough to pass a visual inspection and test drive. In either case, I would approach the seller with your repair bill in hand (and your temper in check), and let him know if it is his practice to resale poor equipment.

You just never know!! If the dealer values his reputation and is honest, he may take it back or trade you out for something that's better. It sure wont hurt to ask.

Good luck,

SHARTEL
