tractor needs help

i have a john deere 4310 with front end loader , 4 wheel drive , and e power reverser, lately it feels like the clutch is slipping if i try to start off in a higher gear or if i am in a high gear moving at a fast speed and start up a hill it will stop pulling and start slipping, no problem in lower gears, also when this started the control leaver you move to operate the 3 point hitch is very hard to move up and down , i am using a log spliter on it , it does this with the spliter hooked up or not. it is full of fluid. help!!!!

Sounds like your clutch is shot, or in need of adjustment. There should be some king of access plate to the bell housing. Check inside for oil. A leaking rear engine seal will cause clutch slip.
Assuming no great deal of oil, I would check clutch pedal free play. Follow the linkage from the pedal to the point where it attaches to the bell housing and adjust as necessary to get a minimum of 1/2" of free travel before you feel resistance.

As for your hydraulic problem, I used to have a 4230 that was a good honest tractor. Had her for over 30 years. One year I tried to cut a little cost when I needed some hyd. oil. I bought a drum of Sam's club hyd. oil with the same military specs. as that from the JD dealer. Didn't seem to bother the other tractors, but the 4230 wouldn't accept it. Even the power steering wouldn't work with that oil. I had to get it out of there and change the filters to correct the problem. Just something to remember. Hope it helps you.
