Spontaneous tractor fire

Started to cut hay with a case 2090. Hadn't used it over 24 hours (had even rained while it was parked) then a neighbor noticed it on fire. Have been scrathing my head as to what might have cased it. Temperature guage was running a little hotter than usual (just made a few rounds) but still in green and not over half way. Temp guage started to jump and finally dropped to bottom and quit working. Quit cutting when this happened, was sitting while I waited for a new sender and thermostat to change. Tractor was pressure washed and blown out before use. Any ideas as to what might have caused the fire?

My neighbor had something similar happen to his Allis Chalmers he bought. He had it parked in his new shop, and it ended up burning up on him one night out of the blue. They figured a battery cable had arced and overheated the battery. He put battery cutouts on all his equipment after that. My dad and I went over there for a few days to help him empty the shop and clean all the soot off everything. Luckily the building didn't burn up, though it is large enough that the flames didn't reach the walls or ceiling.
