If you have access to all of the injectors then loosen them one by one while cranking the engine until you get a good stream of diesel then tighten them up before you stop cranking. Go through each one and you should be good to go. Diesels are notoriously difficult to start if run out of fuel and usually you will only make that mistake once. Changing a filter can get you in the same trouble. Some engines have a manual plunger pump near or on the fuel pump that would save you from endless cranking on the starter. Good luck!
