I'm curious what you guys think about this. I have a JD 170 skid steer with an Isuzu diesel. The motor is probably at least 20 years old. It currently is configured with a choke to shut down. Are there advantages to this system vs. a fuel solenoid? It has a mechanical lift pump, if that makes a difference. I have used several diesel tractors, but this is the first I have owned.

Isn't that " choke wire " connected to the injector pump? If so, it's a manual fuel shut off. Make sure all the hydraulics are in neutral detents with no load on anything, shut the engine off and then turn off the switch.

Double checked it. There is a fitting on the intake manifold that the air cleaner pipe connects to. The shutoff cable is connected to a butterfly in this fitting. Seems like my friends JD 1070 with a Yanmar 3 cyl diesel has the same setup. I don't see anything obvious on the injection pump where a shutoff cable should be attached. The pump is a Diesel Kiki (license Bosch)
