I bought a brand new Husqy 2654 - my Dad then said I could have his slightly used but totally blown up 2248.

So now I have two - the 2248 has 150 hrs & he put synthetic oil in at the first oil change. The engine apparently blew all of the oil out asap & blasted a connecting rod. WTF?!

Has anyone ever heard of synthetic oil not being able to stay inside an engine? I've never heard of it.

In any case -the tractor is maybe 5 years old - out of warrenty - and in serious need of a 22 hp B&S engine.

Is it worth trying to find an engine or should I just part it out? So far my internet searches have not been encouraging on the cost of one of these engines.

I would with it only being 5 years old its worth putting another engine on it..

The tractor is in great shape - but if its going to cost $1000 - well - thats a lot to put into a tractor I can buy new for $1500.

Now if I could get it fixed reasonably - I can sell it for $1000 and feel good about it. We will have to wait & see what the shop says.

I agree if it cost to much to repair then just part it out, and put the $ toward a new tractor..
