How sad are we when...??

No one is arrested or injured after customers waiting for some new Nike shoes get rowdy
(posted Feb 6th 7am) No one is arrested or injured after customers waiting for some new Nike shoes get rowdy. According to Washington County Sheriff’s officials, deputies were called out to the Valley Mall for a disturbance in front of Footlocker. About 150 people were in front of the store waiting for the new Nike Foam sneaker and the crowd had become unruly. About 15 officers from the Sheriff’s office, State Police and Hagerstown Police responded and calmed down the crowed. The entire mall was temporarily evacuated and on lock down. Then the people wanting shoes were escorted into the store a few at a time and then escorted back out. A Footlocker representative said they had about 90 pairs of shoes in stock and were sold out before 10:30 am. Some people claimed they had been waiting in line since 7:30 pm the night before. The Valley Mall opened for business at 10 am without any further incident.

Yep, and if the stores gonna promote the product they need to have enough stock, or rainchecks to keep the customers happy.. A happy customer is a return customer if only walmart would learn that..........

The thought never entered my mind to 'RUSH' to a shoestore and camp out, so I could be the FIRST to OVERPAY for a 'fad' shoe!

Unfortunately WJ...Walmart doesn't have to have a memory when they are the only store in town. I gotta wonder what they have on who at the Securities and Exchange Commission. That store is a monopoly if I have ever seen one. Only, with all that said, I don't know how far I would have to drive for a lightbulb if Walmart plays out and goes belly up!

Kinda reminds me of my work place . We sell tools. When we have a tent sale (scratch and dent) people camp out the night before to be the first in the gate... I dont want to be the one to unlock the gate when we open....

Kinda the same.

Another one.....
(A few years ago) Got a letter in the mail "Exclusive invite only! Come to Blockers Harley Davidson and test ride a new Buell. Recieve a free T shirt".

I get in my car and drive 20 miles to Blockers to get my ride and T shirt.

I get there and say "I'd like to test ride a Buell", as I hand the salesman my "Exclusive ride invitation". He says "The Buells are all sold. We don't have any left". Well......"can I have the T shirt ?". "Sorry, those are all gone too".

I will never go back there.

I think in this economy business are underestimating the allure of freebies.

Werent those shoes selling for like $150 - $200? Paying $40 for my size canoe shoes is bad enough sometimes - best fitting/lasting shoes i get are new balance - i bot a pair of FILA shoes on sale a couple months ago - cheeply made shoes, after a month they started falling apart ( seams split) , i rotated right to my shed use.
