The 'farm' is on the block

The lady from the real estate office was there sat. She did a 'drive through, walk through' inspection.

As she was leaving, I asked her what she thought.

She said that she was going to 'price' it at 39-40 K range.

You could have knocked me over with a FEATHER!!

I have 'invested' over $200K, all my 'free time' for 17 years, etc. in a property that is worth LESS than I bought it for 17 YEARS ago??

I PAID $47,000 for it, then I stood in the basement, looking at sky, because everything in between was torn off! Then, we hauled scrap metal and cinderblocks out of the front yard so we could mow. We filled ruts, landscaped the yard till it looked like a golf course. On and on it drones. I actually cashed in my retirement fund to make payments.
New Argon filled windows, new sheeting under new shingles, new drywall, a couple thousand spent on the well and the wireing. NOW, it's worth LESS than the mess I bought into 17 years ago?

And they ask me why I DRINK??? It's a wonder that I'm not an AX MURDERER!!
She is 'pricing' the whole place less than the 2 1/2 acres across the road was worth 5 years ago!!

Yeah pretty much sucks. My dad put an 1800 sf addition on his house about 10 years ago and now the place is worth less than the cost of the addition. The good news is that my sister is getting 2 g's/month rent.
It works both ways, though I'm glad I'm not selling.
My place sold for $210,000 in 2002 and I bought it a year ago for less than 30% of that in move in condition.

Yep thats the problem they dont care about your back breaking labor, or blood, and tears you put into a place. They just see the bottom line which is their % of commission.. I believe I would find another real estate person..

Why not move out to the farm and sell the place in town?

I knew that the bottom had dropped out of the property market in The States, I guess if you don't need to sell hold onto your property and value it in a couple of years.

I only hope I dont lose out on mine if I ever want to sell.

It's not a good time to be selling your property. The housing market has yet to recover.

I'm sorry to hear the bad news.

The 'tennants' over the years has made it a little better than a cabin.
They have stolen my 'joy, along with all my parts I had stored there.

'.
92 year old alzheimers vic living here, Sweetie is barely able to deal with it all.

Ambulance/ hospital 2 miles, vs 15 miles. Work 2 miles vs 15.

This place is paid for, the other is worth 1/3 what I owe on it.

I guess, since my back is shot from carrying freeloaders, it's time to downsize.
In a couple years, I may buy an acre or two and put up a pole building.

It is what it is. before I rented it out and the bottom fell out of the market, I had $194,000 worth of property!
The damages caused by the 'tennants' shoved it down $75K, then the bottom fell out of the market, killing the rest.
When crack heads sit in your building and shoot through the roof, (8 years old), it kinda speeds the depriciation.
They would have done me a favor if they burned it down!

Sounds like "Pacific heights". I have to laugh Cub. Many years ago....... well, back in 1985, my folks let a family move into our old cabin on the property (cabin can be seen in my profile) and he tossed a 250 length of romex wire from the house so that they had power, and my folks even left some of the furniture in there. They let them live there for free. SO! Rather than go out and get wood for the wood stove, the father busted up all my folks furniture, then ripped up the fllors right down to the dirt. They never even walked out to the outhouse, but just went right there on the ground around the wood stove. Nothing like honorable grateful people I tell you. I remember the guy laughiong about retiring on welfare, having been on it for years. If I knew then what I know now, I would have pile driven that piece of.

Update,

The man that I did a pile of work for over the last 8 years put in an offer yesterday. He will let me keep my stuff and work there and pay me to do his stuff.
All I can do now is hope they accept his offer.

I have been their 'slave' for 17 years.
5 years ago, I bought the little 4 bay next door, in case my world continued falling apart. Since I still owe on it to the credit union, they can't touch it.
