Dirty jobs!!

Neighbor, Fred was commissioned to clean up a house that a cat 'hoarder' neglected!
He asked me if I needed an ironing board. I looked into the bed of his truck and saw 2 pounds of cat crap on the bottom!
I didn't bother looking in the other trucks!
I've seen the TV show. I never saw the 'proof' that we still have them local!
Now, I've seen 'NASTY' before. 25 years ago, I was offered a house for $2,000.
I walked into the kitchin. I grabbed the wallpaper that was hanging loose and 10 pounds of dead cockroaches fell to the floor.
I looked into the laundry room and the washer and dryer were covered 1/2 way up with cat crap covered clothes.

Sorry! NO SALE!!

I should have bought it, since a new Rite Aid bought the property and bulldozed it! I could have hit a home run! Cat crap and cockroach world is now a DRIVEWAY for the million dollar store! They bought a pizza shop, a gas station, a bar and a bowling alley, a computer store and 4 houses.

I've been in the bowling alley more times than I remember, The computer store many times, the pizza shop 50 times and the gas station daily. The 2 year old Rite Aid, ONCE!!
3 businesses that I patronized are gone. One that I don't need ATE them!

Bigger is NOT better to me! They bulldozed 6 businesses that I shopped at to build the biggest wal-mart in the tri-state area. I have been in that store 2 times. The FIRST time and the LAST!

Saving small businesses is also a dirty job. Someone has to do it.

I'd never shop at a walmart, ever. I totally will pay more....within reason, to help out the mom and pops stores.

I'm guilty of shopping at Walmart, but only for things I can't get from locally owned businesses. I can generally do as well if not better when I consider the extra gallon of gas I save traveling 4 miles in stead of 20. I prefer locally owned banks too.
My bank has 4 branches, all within 20 miles of each other. I can poke my head in the door and ask a teller to transfer a couple thousand from my money market to my checking account, grab a cup of coffee and a home made cookie and walk out.

I prefer to shop local, it keeps the money and the jobs local. I would rather pay a little bit more and get personal service. I do shop in the big stores on occasion but only if I am buying in bulk where the savings at worthwhile.

I wish we were permitted small private banks, they are regulated out of existence here.

Think it would work?

The issue is living in a small town. Most other places just don't have what they have, at least to the extent that Walmart does.

I work retail ( not for Walnut World) - people complain about our prices, but more complain about how WW does their business - like they could care less about customers, knowing theyll be 30 more to replace one that doesnt come back. Their 'rollback' prices are a farce- once they roll it back to normal - it goes up higher then before. Bulk ordering is also their key to get 'supposedly' cheeper prices - the few times ive been in there, they werent that much cheeper then anywhere else.

Usually when someone asks for an odd piece i actually send them down to the local hardware store thats been around for a long time - i say " If they dont have it, you wont find it " - i try to send the lil guys some business - WW doesnt get ANY recognition from me - i dont even say that name.

I prefer to spend my money locally. Unfortunately for me nothing breaks from 9-5 so I'm forced to fix things from Walmart (or HD, or lowes) because they are still open.

I understand the issues Walmart inflects into small towns. I wish there were better options.

Yep they have alot of stuff, and open 24/7 its their customer service that sucks... As mentioned by DT the volume they do if they lose a customer they dont care... Until those customers start adding up then they take notice when the profits start falling. I sold all my walmart stock a few years ago while I could, and now its tanking. It used to go up, and split 1 time per year but it hasnt now in about 10 years.. Slowly but surely their "dont care" attitude is catching up with them..

It's falling? I read a report that the Walton kids were milking it for everything they were worth.

I hate WW more every time I go in. Problem is, no-where else is open @ 12:30 or 1 AM, when I get off work. And I can't get a lot of the stuff I need on way to work, to sit in the truck for 10 hours before getting home.

I have the same issue.

Things never break from 9-5.
