I JUST PURCHASED A CASE 446 YESTERDAY. THE GUY I BOUGHT IT FROM SAID IT ONLY HAD 300HR ON IT. I THINK HE LEFT OUT A ZERO OR TWO. ANYWAY AS I WAS GOING DOWN A STEEP INCLINE, I NOTICED THERE WERE NO BRAKES. DOES THIS THING COME WITH BRAKES OR ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE?

Thanks for your replies
Tom

Welcome to the forum,Tom!Yes the 446 does(supposed to have)brakes. They are cam-actuated,and you should be able to see the backs of them,if you look at the back side of the wheels. They are adjustable, externally, but I would pull the wheels, and drums, and check the condition of the shoes.

the brakes on a 446 don't actually function as one thinks they should, when you depress the brake pedal it puts the transaxle in neutral thus making the frewhell condition worse. In all actuallity you should not use the brake pedal but instead use the travel control lever and use the retard function to keep the tractor at a safe speen on an incline. It takes a little getting used to but works well after you have the hang of it.
