I'm going to assume that the engine is an ONAN twin,in which case the coil is fed battery voltage to fire the plugs,instead of induction,as in the briggs.If so,I've experienced the same problem,on a 446.check the + side of the coil terminals to see if there is voltage with the key OFF.If there is,either there's a short in the wire harness,or the ignition switch is "arcing",and needs replacing.It will,most likeley,be the switch,but check the wiring,just to make sure.
