Kohler Engines With Mechanical Ignition Points

Haven't put points in anything for a long long time. My question concers lubricating the rubbing block on points. Used to be some mysterious brown grease that would come with the points. Is the correct grease "dilectric" grease? Thanks. This question is strictly for old timers. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum! You can use regular axle grease,if you like.Just saturate the pad,and squeeze out the excess,so it doesn't fly onto the points.

Kohler points don't have a rubbing block or a lubricating wick. The push rod pushes straight on the moving arm. No lube is needed, but it won't hurt. I do put a light film of regular grease on the push rod before I install it. Check the inside end of the push rod for wear. That end rubs on the camshaft.
