Can my mower handle a lawn vac?

I bought a clamshell type lawn vac from bluebird last year. Weighs about 375 empty. It is bascially one of the agri fab - trailer type lawn vacs. At the time I had a JD but since then I purchased a toro 50" timecutter. A basic homeowner zero turn mower. My question is is the trailer vac too heavy for the toro? I asked Toro and of course they say they only approve "their" attachments. I see a few toro online website dealers that sell trailers with 800lb capacities as attachments for this so at this point I don't know. I have tried it a few times, going slow and it seems fine but I don't want to bust up my new hydros. The mower is a SS5000, 50" toro timecutter, 24hp Kaw. motor.

If it were mine I probably wouldn't do it with that mower! But, if you must just take it easy and see how it works out. You can tell if its putting undo strain on those hydros. And I hope you don't have hills I doubt you will get any traction.

They do make smaller ones with a different hitch for Zero turns. The problem you will have is turning with the one you have.

If you have the room, id say buy a regular used tractor ( with or w/o a deck) to haul the vac around to save the zturn.

Toro recommends a maximum drawbar pull of 80 lbs. Your empty vac weighs over 4 times that. Pulling a heavy load creates more heat in the transmissions. That overheats the oil and, then the transmissions fail. With zero-turns, another concern is stability. They don't have much front-end weight.
You can pull a trailer. If it is loaded with light leaves, sticks, or mulch, no problem. If you load it with rocks or topsoil, that is too heavy.
