Carburetor Mixture Adjustment problem
New problem with 14.5 Briggs and Stratton engine swap at Bripatch1.
Having most of the start up issues solved I was happy to report that
the motor was" alive" and runs without stalling out. That's still true but
although I can drive this tractor around the yard, it quits as soon as I
engage the mower deck.
I replaced the idle mixture screw with another one which I grooved with a Dremel so I could use a slotted head screw driver for adjusting it. (and left the plastic limiter cap off). Then ran the engine for 5 minutes and reset the idle and mixture screws by the B&S book.
When the engine quits it can be started right back up but does not seem to get enough RPMs to power the deck. When I shut it down with the kill switch it dies with a "pop".
My first thought was to get a new mixture screw but unfortunately it had to be placed on backorder with the local supplier(s). My question is
am I on the right track or is there something else going on that I should be aware of? Advice appreciated, Regards, Bripatch1
